Wardrobe

The Stage South Wardrobe, formerly that of Dunedin’s Fortune Theatre, is particularly strong in mid-20th century garments. Only a small selection can be featured in our catalogue, but there are many others, including a large number of uniforms - army, navy and airforce.
​
There are many women's clothes from the 1940s, '50s and early '60s, with some also from the 1920s, 1930s, later 1960s (mini skirt period),1970s and '80s.
Men's suits from these periods also feature in this selection, as do morning suits. There are also men’s evening tail coats and dinner jackets, many other suits, jackets, trousers, waistcoats, overcoats, leather jackets and shirts.

Notable is a group of stylish 1870s-1880s dresses, and several four-buttoned suits of the same period. Slips, petticoats, corsets and other underwear are also available.
​
We have also photographed a small selection of hats, shoes and accessories such as fur stoles. There are far more hats and shoes in the wardrobe than we could include in this sample.
